Friday Night Square Dance

I was calling for the Zig Zaggers in northern Virginia last night, my first time with the group. On the whole, it was a pretty good time!

It's never been a very large group but so early in the season, many folks are still travelling, away on vacation and so on so it's smaller than usual. In fact, having kent4str and cuyahogarvr with me ensured we had five couples.

It's generally an older club than I'm used to calling for so I chose moderately paced music but per justetthon's advice, I didn't exercise much restraint on the harder material. There were errors but they were occasional and more or less evenly distributed so I chalk it up to random chance. In at least on case, much pain would have been saved if I had just read my own materially correctly... doh! Memo to self: scoot & dodge != scoot & weave. :-)

We'll be back for dancing on the rare Fridays our schedule is clear, especially if cuyahogarvr is in town.

Glad it went OK! I told you they can take what you dish out, albeit at a slower pace than you might be accustomed to. The group is a terrific bunch of folks. Thanks again for covering for me; I spent the night mired up in paperwork for the pending live-in help for my ailing mother. I might start a thread out there on my LJ called "My Mother, My Child" to share my experiences lately.
