Lunch Musings

I love bananas. Outside of [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr and [livejournal.com profile] kent4str, they're probably my favourite fruit.

Bananas by themselves, banana bread, banana muffins, banana ice cream... it's all wonderful.

I generally prefer my chocolate uncontaminated with misc fruit flavourings but I make an exception for bananas. Bananas dipped in dark chocolate fondue, chocolate chips in banana muffins... Mmmmm.

OK, the carbon footprint for importing them is astronomical, but since I don't drink coffee --another huge carbon offender-- I don't feel too bad.

Just sayin'.

i needed a smile today. i be having a day. thank you handsome

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Then my work here is done. Glad to be of service! :-)

[identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Imagine if people had to give up coffee to decrease their carbon footprint.
Or vanilla.
Or bananas.
Or mangoes.
Or....

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspect dropping vanilla, bananas and such would annoy people but we'd live. But dropping coffee might cause the economy to crash by 25% or more in lost productivity. :-)

[identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, all those people unable to wake up in the morning without their daily Whorebucks fix!

LOL

[identity profile] bootedintexas.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I never got the whole coffee thing (which of course seeing my brother fall over himself for a cup of coffee makes it even more humorous to me).

i just never liked it.

[identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
While I love the smell of coffee, I can't abide the taste. I wake up bright and early, all bright eyed and perky, with a song in my heart and a hardon in my jammies a smile on my face.

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... I'll have to look for coffee-scented candles or such. :-)

[identity profile] trawnapanda.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
with a song in my heart and a hardon in my jammies

you wear jammies?

(no, for moi (unlike Marilyn), the answer to the question "what do you wear to bed" is NOT "Chanel number 5, of course")

[identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, no, I don't wear jammies. Nothing comes between me and my flannel sheets.

[identity profile] trawnapanda.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, no, I don't wear jammies. Nothing comes between me and my flannel sheets.

PHEW that's a relief. had me alarmed for a minute there.

[identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I did date someone who did in fact wear jammies. After we'd "do it", he would get up and put them on, despite my insistence that cuddling nekkid after doing the deed was part of the fun.

We didn't last too long.

[identity profile] trawnapanda.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not surprised that the relationship turned out to be ephemeral.

The last time I owned jammies was when I was 21 and had had a car smunch, followed within hours by the surgical removal of my (by this point ruptured) spleen. I was in hospital for 3wks, and my mum brought me jammies, which I appreciated, much better than the indignighties Scarborough General was providing.

These days, if it's cold, I might wear a Tshirt or sweatshirt to bed. And if I'm unwell (and getting the chills), or in a group where being clothed is appropriate, I'll wear sweats.

but I'm in bed ALONE in those situations. I find that if there are 2 in the bed, it's pretty warm, and I don't need (much less want) clothing in the way. And, as you say, cuddling skin-to-skin is much more fun.

N in the bed / and the little one said / roll over! roll over! / so they all rolled over / and one fell out / there were (N-1) in the bed / and the little one said ...

N in the bed / and the little one said / roll over! roll over! / so they all rolled over / and one fell out / there were (N-1) in the bed / and the little one said ...

This was my favourite song as a little kid, and I would always make my aunties sing it to me.

I'll wear shorts and a t-shirt if I'm crashing on someone's sofa, but generally, prefer to be nekkid in bed.

That said, one time I was sharing a hotel room with 3 friends, two each in a bed. We woke up, and after showers, David made sure he had on gym shorts and a t-shirt, Peter and I were in boxers and no shirts, and Dean was completely naked. Needless to say, Dean and I had shared a bed that night. And we did more than just sleep.

[identity profile] trawnapanda.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
leaving Peter and David (clothed in some form, one assumes) in the other bed, literally as the audience, listening to you and Dean having naked fun. (I'm assuming your boxers got abandoned, maybe I'm being presumptuous here). Did P&D behave themselves? or were you having too much fun to notice?

most amusing.

though I must allow, slut that I am, I'd've been tempted to ask if I could join in.

[identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The boxers were lost right after I pulled the covers up.
Dean and I waited until we were damn sure our roommies were asleep, and even then, one woke up. Apparently the noise we made in the shower the next morning woke one of them up, too.

*sigh*

And slut that I am, I would have said "yes".

[identity profile] clickboo.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I have recently discovered bananas and peanut butter. I didn't realize what I was missing all these years!

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... haven't tried that combo before. I'm generally not a fan of peanut butter but I'll give it a try.

[identity profile] clickboo.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to try that, too! :)

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, you've lost me on that one. I'm generally not a big fan of cheese of any kind. Once you've lived on a dairy farm, the magic is gone.

[identity profile] cuyahogarvr.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
then how about whipped marshmallow sauce????
Not that I've tried it, but seen it.

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I've tried it a few times. Depending on the brand, I found it either tasteless fluff or excessively sweet. In any case, it seemed more a distraction from the food it was topping than a complement to it.

[identity profile] cuyahogarvr.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I meant it as in a sliced banana sandwich with marshmallow sauce spread on it.

[identity profile] paigemom.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey (banana ice cream, dark chocolate chunks and walnut chunks) rules

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... mmmm...

[identity profile] bootedintexas.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
now i can also appreciate tomato and peanut butter. but that is going off topic isnt it?

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, that's, uh, an intriguing combination. I suppose statistically someone was bound to try that particular arrangement eventually. :-)

Coffee...YUCK

[identity profile] g8rcub.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Never could stand the taste of coffee...and the smell always reminds me of an ashtray someone dumped beer into...I prefer my caffeine carbonated, and as close as possible to 32 degrees fahrenheit(0 degrees celsius for you foreigners) as possible without actually causing ice crystals to form...preferrabley Diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke...people have died trying to give me Diet Pepsi....

Re: Coffee...YUCK

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here... zero interest in coffee. Coke Classic is my preferred carbonated, caffeinated sugar water, served near-crystallizing cold. No interest in the diet stuff though: I need the sugar like Courtney Love needs her smack.

Re: Coffee...YUCK

[identity profile] g8rcub.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I find that if I drink sugared soda, I crash very shortly there-after. If I take my sugar straight, such as colored sugar candies, I don't crash.

Re: Coffee...YUCK

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I crash a little but it's worth it. :-)

My mother's teats were barren so I was weaned on java. Fortunately, she wore the coffee in bags that she hung by her bosom so that we still had that bonding time.

[identity profile] ohwolfman.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, that was me making the comment about my mother's teats.

[identity profile] kent4str.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
No one else would dare comment about your mother's teats.

Well, not when she's within earshot.

[identity profile] brunorepublic.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Bananas have never been my thing. I just... don't like them. Oddly enough, I love fried plantain. It is kind of freaky to think that these staple fruits are the product of sterile, genetic mutant plants that could not exist without major human intervention. :)

I'm not one for coffee either (okay, I do Fivebucks from time to time, but I'd be just as happy with diet pop). My carbon footprint excesses are avocadoes and mangoes. Mmmm....

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] kent4str doesn't like bananas either. I love plantain... yum!

Kinda neutral on avocadoes... I don't perceive much flavour and the texture is uninteresting. Mangoes, however, are fabulous. And honeydew melons. And lemons, limes, pears and peaches. I'm a fruit freak. :-)

[identity profile] kent4str.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
...and I love fried plantain, too.

Plantains

[identity profile] cuyahogarvr.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, here's where you lose me. You two can have all the plantains you want. Avacadoes, aka guacamole, are another story. I LOVE guacamole, aka avacados.

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, I've gotta try this! Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!

[identity profile] cuyahogarvr.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Only if you add the chocolate sauce, chopped nuts, marachiano cherries and vanilla yogurt - yum!!!! Okay, skip the yogurt for the dairy farmers.

[identity profile] cuyahogarvr.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
As you know, until recently, I've not been a big fan of bananas. Little did I know that it was because bananas are meant to be eaten when they're bright yellow and not brown and/or black. Sigh!

[identity profile] trawnapanda.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
welll, there's the shape too...

[identity profile] cuyahogarvr.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
See, when they're brown and mushy there is no shape. The rigidity is missing.......
