Snow!

There was a light dusting last night but the threat it would get worse was sufficient to cancel last night's C1 dancing in College Park. I was hoping to wake up to climatic ugliness this morning to justify sleeping in and telecommuting, but it was not to be: the wet snow which didn't melt immediately was inconsequential so I'm at work per usual.

More snow has been falling all morning however. The surrounding counties which didn't cancel school entirely are now announcing early closures. If the precipitation accelerates, I may consider heading home a little early to avoid a rush hour of enhanced ugliness; our dinner plans with a friend might have to be cancelled.

Postscript: The Chesapeake Squares just announced they are cancelling tonight's club night. Dayle Hodge was scheduled to call so my plans are unaffected. I suspect there will be other cancellations through the course of the day.

How's the weather up there?

It's been a little chilly here the last several days. It has also been raining. It is sunny outside now, but we'll see what happens...

We're experience steady snow at this point too, but I've already seen several plow and salt trucks on the road. Yeah! This is not a lake effect event for us as it's coming from the southwest which would explain why it's sweeping your way. Enjoy - I hope you get your wish for a winter wonderland.

Yay! More snow!

As long as it doesn't impair weekend travel anyway...

...and the Federal government decided to close at 2:00 today. Alarmist wimps. The worst hasn't even cleared the mountains to the West yet. Many local companies follow the Feds - but not mine. Oh, well, at least my commute home shouldn't be very crowded.

I just got home in time to receive the e-mail from upper management that our DC offices have early release as of 2 PM for non-blue team folks. Of course, 2/3 of the firm are considered "blue team" (including me) so it's an announcement of little value. Still, I'm home now and can telecommute the balance of the day.
