And Much Sleeping Was Had

I went to bed far later than I was originally planning --12:30 AM instead of closer to 11 PM. I thought it would make for a rough morning, but no!

The alarm went off this morning and I was fully rested! Even more surprising, I woke up in my own bed! (Get your minds out of the gutter... a certain someone's [[livejournal.com profile] kent4str's] snoring usually drives me into the smaller guestroom around 2 AM.)

The morning commute wasn't any uglier than usual and so far my pager has been utterly silent. Let's hope the day continues in this happy fashion.

Baltimore Open House

Tonight, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I share a stage for the Chesapeake Squares' open house at the Waxter Center (1000 Cathedral Street [at Eager]) in downtown Baltimore.

All are welcome to attend. No partner or prior dance experience is required and there is no charge, dress code or obligation... come as you are!

Today's Happy Bunny Horoscope

Aquarius, The Water Carrier - January 21-February 19

Likes: Making friends, parties and reminding people that "water carrier" is not the same as "waitress."

Dislikes: Being lonely, lies and doing the same old thing all of the time. This is one of the things that makes Aquarians so unique, right? Because everyone just loves being lonely, bored and lied to.

Economic Roller Coaster

Yesterday, while the US markets were closed for the Martin Luther King Jr holiday, the world's stick stock markets tanked. Badly.

I swear, I take one day off work and the planet goes to hell.

This morning's market openings were hideous (the Dow off 384 points) but the Fed cut interest rates by 3/4 of a percentage, the largest single cut since 1984. The Dow has rebounded to being down "only" 158 points at the moment.

It's gonna be one of those years...

Chesapeake Squares' Open House

Overall, it was a pretty good night.

We had three squares on the floor; two-thirds were longtime club members and the rest were new folks or lapsed dancers coming back into the fold. [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I led them through a number of simple calls, largely lifting them from the ABC program, and called a full Mainstream demo tip to keep the regulars stimulated.

There were lots of complimentary remarks as we wrapped up. I hope we see many of these new dancers at our upcoming Mainstream class.

Going to bed now... "power perky" mode is very draining.
