Home Computer RAM Saga Con't

Almost two weeks ago, I received a 512 MB SoDIMM for my iMac. At the time, the iMac would only recognize 256 MB of the new card; a call to technical support concluded the programmable logic of the chip was incorrectly reporting the SoDIMM's capacity to the system. kent4str sent the SoDIMM to the manufacturer the following day for me.

This afternoon, a replacement SoDIMM was waiting for me on the front porch when I returned home from work. Installing it in the iMac, it is recognized as 512 MB. Combined with the prior 256 MB->512 MB DIMM replacement, my wee machine is now maxed out at 1 GB of RAM. Yay!

Now to see if it actually works significantly faster than before.

I still need a replacement 512 MB DIMM for my XP box to take it to a max 1 GB of RAM but I doubt the machine will see much of a performance increase as RAM wasn't the primarily bottleneck.
