So true...

Seen on [livejournal.com profile] spatts5's LJ entry today...
---
Dear Lord,
I pray for Wisdom to understand my man;
Love to forgive him;
And Patience for his moods.
Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength, I'll beat him to death. Amen!

Palm Trauma, Con't

I'm still having difficulty syncing my Palm Tungsten E2, but I think I'm a little closer to a resolution currently.

The only channel which spontaneously combusts is the events/calendar conduit. Last night, I set the iMac up to verbosely log that particular channel, started the sync and went to bed. The Palm crapped out again about 2.5 hours later. While the logging can tell me what record it had just completed, it doesn't tell me which one it was working on at the time of the error. Figures.

C1 Square Dance Boot Camp

Last Thursday, Dayle Hodge & I finished coordination of our plan for a C1 boot camp. The idea is to run through the entire C1 list in 4 three-hour sessions (Friday night, Saturday morning & afternoon and Sunday morning), then follow up with a C1 dance Sunday afternoon. Survivors Graduates won't be great C1 dancers but will have enough knowledge to attend future gentle C1 dances & workshops.

This morning, the DC Lambda Squares board gave its blessing to use their name and to funnel revenues & expenses through the club. From the DCLS perspective, they get a prepackaged event to their credit without any heavy lifting; from our perspective, we get a legitimate organization to whom dancer fee checks may be payable, a legitimizing name for promoting the event to dancers outside the immediate DC neighbourhood and a piggy-back on the club's liability insurance.

In short, the only obstacles left are sending in a check to hold our hall reservation and soliciting enough dancers to make it viable (need 10 minimum). To that end...

Know anyone interested in a condensed C1 weekend?

  • Instructor: Dayle Hodge
  • Cost: $75/dancer
  • Location: Arlington, VA
  • Time: Friday, Sept. 29 evening through Sunday, Oct. 1 afternoon
  • Coming from out of town? We'll help find you community housing.
  • Prerequisite: Need to have solid A2 proficiency. If you're struggling with A2, this event may not be for you.
  • We strongly recommend you read the official C1 definitions prior to the class for maximum benefit.
  • C1 angels are welcome (no admission charge, natch).

How Not To Professional

A UK sales employee was fired via text message. Not cool.

This is on par with a former vacationing boss of mine laying off other vacationing staff via cell phone from his chair on the beaches of the Turks & Caicos Islands.

DC Lambda Squares Tubing Photos

DCLS went tubing on Antietam Creek on July 29. Not wanting to risk either of my 35mm cameras or my digital camera, I bought two waterproof disposable cameras from CVS. The photographic results are about what you'd expect: adequate, to be charitable.

Anyway, I had a great time and the photos --such as they are-- are now posted on my web site. Enjoy!
