JEEZ... you're having a BAD day!! I've never seen/heard you so depressed!! Chin up, buck up and all that positive crap. It's gotta get better eh?? I'm cheering for you.
Actually, I'm in a positive mood and things are looking up... first thing this morning, the scheduled date was 2020.
I've had a wee chat with the powers-that-be and they've redirected the disaster recovery documentation & web publishing task to some other poor schmuck just hired. Thus, my workload has eased considerably for the next 48 hours.
Alas, a new guy has been hired for Sarbox compliance, not to help me but as a member of the Risk Management team whose job it is to rip apart all that I'm compliance materials I'm trying to assemble & compose. From our initial conversation, it looks like I'll have to do a lot of hand-holding & explaining for the next while, until he's cycled out & replaced with a new consultant who will then repeat the learning process. sigh
I'm glad to hear you're taking a positive spin on all of this. Much more typical of you. You really should be more in charge of things... Oh, wait...that could be a dangerous thing. :) I don't suppose the relief to your workload means NOT having to attend the disaster relief "games" this weekend?
Nope, I'm still engaged for 1-10 PM on Saturday at the office. The shift in duties only lifts the pre- & post-event documentation task from my shoulders, although all of the key pre-event stuff has been largely completed anyway.
I expect the drill itself to be relatively boring. I'm bringing some square dance choreography to work with me to redraft/rewrite.
I bet it gets used for putting clothes on, or "temporarily" holding something much sooner than 2014.
Actually, you should have people from the Lambda Squares sign up to give you massages while you're working on convention stuff. Just tell them it's part of their convention duty, and that all the clubs do it that way.
That's a great idea! Best keep it to ourselves though... if the staff callers find out, they'll want to get in on the deal too and lord knows callers are already high maintenance. :-)

Someone called me "cheap" the other day. I corrected him (gently). I may be easy, but I'm definitely not cheap. Just ask Mark!

That's certainly the fate of any horizontal surface in our household.
