10th Anniversary

Ten years ago today, I arrived in the United States from Canada. Sometimes it feels like yesterday and sometimes I can't believe it was a decade back.

I'm too tired from square dancing to attempt any meaningful analysis or thoughtful insight. I'll try again later.

Happy Anniversary?

Since you're tired, I probably shouldn't mention that most of your posts that mention Canada are showing 9.0+ out of 10 signs that you'd rather be in Canada.

Especially related to chocolate, since we heathen Americans don't know how to make good chocolate.

On behalf of U. S. citizens (yes, all of them, I anm that all-knowing!), thank you for moving here and making our country just a little bit better. While making Canada just a little bit dumber.

Surprising how time flies... I moved here in 95 - 11 years now. I can still remember things like struggling with customs, and all the paperwork that ensued as we tried to get Social Security numbers and our first American credit cards (never mind that I had 25 years of solid UK credit history - here I was an unknown quantity).

The 11 years have brought both great joy and great sadness; but I have never regretted my decision to move and become a US citizen. And best of all of course, they brought me [livejournal.com profile] billeyler :-)

I remember that rather well, even if I was out of town for the actual arrival.

But I remember you and Kent picking me up at the airport a day or so later.
