Car Maintenance

When precisely did I become an extension of my car?

I notice to my surprise a month ago that after filling my car's gasoline tank and running it through a car wash during a lunch break from work that I felt washed, relaxed and stress-free, as though the car wash had been a half-hour massage. A little odd, I thought, and let it slip from conscious thought.

This afternoon, I took my Civic to the local neighbourhood equivalent of Jiffy Lube for an oil change. As they finished, I realized as I sat in my car doing nothing in particular that my calves and feet felt more relaxed than they have in weeks, as though I had been on the very pleasurable receiving end of a foot massage.

I'm not complaining, of course: anything to reduce my stress level is very welcome. I'm just a little surprised at the source.

Perhaps I should take care of that 60,000 mile service I've been avoiding, although I'll probably need someone to drive me home afterwards. :-)

I'll be happy to look under your hood anytime.

oh dang, you beat me to it. I was going to make a comment about giving him a lube job next time I saw him... :-)

Oh, I have no objection to that; I can always watch while you give him the lube job. There's room for everyone under Brian's hood. ;-)

Honey, the 60K mile service entails someone driving you home.

Signed,
Mr Goodwrench

I have yet to give you the complete 38-point inspection. Perhaps your fluids need checking? Rotate your tires, adjust your alignment...

Only 60K miles on that Civic. That's puppy miles for that baby. I "only" have 191K on my 14 Y.O. truck and you should get at least that on the Civic if you take good care of it. ;-)

And I'll jump in the frey when it comes to cheking under your hood. :-P

Considering your responses to a gas tank fill up and a lube job, I don't understand why you've been avoiding a 60,000 mile all points servicing. That could really put you over the edge. I want to watch! : )
