Sysadmin Appreciation Day Arrives Late

Upper management only twigged in that last Friday was system administrator appreciation day after it was mostly over. To their credit, they attempted to make up for the (trivial) faux pas by scheduling a pizza lunch for the entire Unix Engineering team.

That was yesterday, except that it fell entirely off their radar so nothing was done about organizing the event. It was rescheduled to today.

I just finished woofing down a couple of small slices. It's really crappy pizza (Ledo's), but hey-- the price was right and their hearts were in the right place.

Hmm, let's see -- late, obviously an afterthought, cheapest possible bad food which, if consistently eaten, will kill you in time. I would certainly feel loved....

All of which crossed my mind, but it's free food! Free!:-)

It's the thought the counts, but I'm with [livejournal.com profile] dr_scott. I would have that thought gift cards (say for thinkgeek or amazon or something) would have not only been more flexible, but potentially less harmful to your health.

Nobody sent ME a card for sysadmin appreciate day, and that's SAD.

I would have been content to have an extra jeans day or perhaps an afternoon early release: it would have less monetary impact that even the pizza. I'll have to remember this if/when I ever become management here.
