Peace & Quiet

I actually don't like peace & quiet very much. It feels so... unproductive. Like I've clearly forgotten something I'm supposed to tend to, or some appointment somewhere. Being non-busy usually drives me nuts.

Nevertheless, the past few days have had a lot of slack. Kent has finally begun listening to the 125 records or so that I've bought off eBay in the past two months, picking out the ones he's likely to use for his calling; I've been faithfully digitizing his selections in between scans of eBay for new allotments (I'm leading in two more auctions currently in progress). I'm up to my ears in patters but I still feel a need to drastically expand my range of singers.

Yesterday was the last of the Saturday Mainstream class sessions with the Chesapeake Squares in Baltimore. Nine new dancers are being unleashed into an unsuspecting square dance world. After class, most of us had a celebratory dinner at The Stables, then three of us headed to Wheaton, MD (just up the street from our house) for LGBT country night at De Lounge. Kent & I were too tired to dance, but we wanted to put in an appearance & be supportive; after chatting for a while, we slipped out by 9 PM.

Preparations for the upcoming Harper's Ferry Hoedown are almost completed. I've already finished almost all of the registration packet copying... others still need to bring the preferred vendors and restaurant lists, while I still need to finish the layout & copying of the business card-sized dance schedule. I have until next Thursday night so I'm not in a tremendous rush.

The new washer & dryer are arriving Wednesday so we made a quick trip to Home Despot to collect the electrical bits required to convert the existing 220/240V dryer outlet to 110/120V. The rewiring will be done by lunchtime today.

We're planning to see Wallace & Gromit in "Curse of the Wererabbit" this afternoon with friends in Arlington, VA.
