Fun and Horror In Equal Parts

The two Lexmark Z615 printers arrived yesterday evening but I didn't have a chance to play with them until today. I've connected the first to my iMac with the hope that I could share it from the Mac to the Windows XP boxes. While the printing from the Mac works well and the colour & quality are great; I was pleasantly surprised how quiet the printer is. I still need to see about connecting the XP machines but I'll worry about that tomorrow (or later).

The eBay purchase of 100 square dance records arrived this afternoon. A lot of these are old. Very old. Well, compared to me, anyway. :-)

I've listened to about half of them so far, searching for the one or two which I might be able to use out the stack. Among the bunch I've processed so far are a dozen each by Lore, Sets in Order, Jubilee and Windsor. A few of them sound like they were recorded in the 1950s, then remastered & pressed into 45 rpm records in the 1960s. A handful are from the 1970s but are definitely products of an earlier era. So many accordions... shudder

Anyway, nothing I'd like to use has surfaced yet but there's still another 50 to go.

Long-time DC Lambda Squares caller Warren Jaquith offered a while ago to let me dig through his record collection to see if there's anything which appeals. We'll probably get together next week for dinner and some light listening and/or wretching, depending on the label.
