Look Who Came to Dinner

When we returned from grocery shopping this afternoon, we found this bunch in the front yard of our neighbour, happily munching on crabapples from his tree. They watched us for a while as we watched them, then they returned to foraging with little concern for the primates not too far away.

Check the video I just posted to FB and you'll see what it looks like under water. :-(

Long-legged rats; my neighborhood is infested with them.

I'm with [livejournal.com profile] trawnapanda and [livejournal.com profile] dendren here. Kill 'em, clean 'em, hang 'em, drain 'em, cook 'em, an' eat 'em!

Robin Hood and his Merry Men, as I recall, had venison as a staple of their diet. since it was nominally the king's deer, this was risky for them, but hey, if you're already an outlaw... Now you don't have royal ownership of the livestock in Maryland, and I'm pretty sure they're not privately owned... so, get yourself a bow and arrow and some green tights, and get yerself some venison!

That's just amazing! I hope I get to see them while there.

It always amazes me to encounter wildlife in an urban or suburban setting. Reminds me that we're not the only inhabitants here...
