The supposed ice & vending station on my hotel floor has only ice, no vending. And the Marriott gift shop in the lobby stocks only Pepsi products, no Coke Classic.
A true Californian would get into his car, drive for 10 miles to his favorite vegan/sustainable growth/local artists' outlet and grocery store, dally over the suspiciously-just-like-sawdust protein bars, purchase the required liquids (remember that we disdain plastic bags despite the fact that there is no science linking them to environmental catastrophe), then drive back to the hotel in what is hoped to be a carbon-neutral state of mind.
Unfortunately, Foster City doesn't have anything as vulgar as a 7-11. When we lived there, we had to duck under the freeway (Fashion Island Blvd, right on Grant, left on Concar) to go to the 7-11 in San Mateo if we wanted a Slurpee fix.
However, therer is a substantial Safeway on the other side of Metro Center Tower. Turn left onto Chess Drive as you leave the hotel, then left again onto Vintage Park. Stay on Vintage Park until it dead-ends at Metro Center Tower. Turn right, then left, and left again and you'll be in the Safeway parking lot.
There's also an Arco with a convenience store at Hillsdale & Edgewater.

Diet Pepsi is completely undrinkable.
Woe unto you.

There's a 7-11 and a Rite-Aid kitty-corner from your hotel, right behind The Shane Company's store. :)
