LISA OMG!

Thanks to Tom/[livejournal.com profile] everythingsa, I just learned the next LISA conference will be in Baltimore, MD, Nov 1-6, 2009! That's practically on my doorstep!

It's been years since I've attended any USENIX or LISA conference, largely because my recent employers haven't believed in training or education. My current corporate overlords are no exception but I'm sure I can negotiate time off to attend on my own dime, and it's close enough I could commute from home --or possibly even snag sleeping space with any number of Baltimore-based friends & square dancers.

*Squee*!

Or you might even find someone with a spare bed in the conference hotel. (I haven't booked reservations, hotel, or conference registration yet; it's still too early.)

Are you sure that the current company won't spring for it? I've found that Silicon Valley companies used to be pretty big on training, especially when they didn't have to pay for air fare or hotels.

What he said. Right now my company won't pay to send me anywhere however if I can find a training class that is local that I can justify they'll cough up the multiple thousands to send me.
