Annual Membership Meeting

Last night, the DC Lambda Squares convened for our annual membership meeting and board elections. Traffic snarls delayed many people but despite a late start, it was a smooth event.

I suspect the meeting reports went faster than normal because of the absence of our treasurer, presumed lost in traffic. Without him, we had no financial reports to nit-pick and micro-manage. :-) In general terms, our class expenses were higher than last year so there's a small financial loss but there's lots o' dough in the reserves and small profits from both fly-ins so we're OK.

[livejournal.com profile] zzbear was also MIA, probably due to his cold. Still, he was thanked in absentia for his work as HFH chair.

John Z. gave a report on DC Diamond Circulate. We're now at 273 registrations; 83 have booked their seats for the fun badge tour. I expect a surge in registrations at Cleveland's convention. Our fundraising is far ahead of budget and we intend to keep it that way, especially since fuel costs are driving certain other large expenditures through the roof (caller air fares, bus rentals, transport for sound systems and flooring, etc.).

Some board members had their terms expire: Happy Doodle (vice-president), Nick Mattera (treasurer), Tonya Ducrest (at large), Keith Redding (at large) and Ronnie Roerig (class rep). With no new nominations from the floor, the slate of replacement candidates were acclaimed: Olivia Picket (VP), Nick Mattera (treasurer), Keith Redding (at large) and Ronnie Roerig (at large). Darrell Ertzberger continues at president, along with James Ferguson as secretary and Charles Taylor as membership chair.

Between the business activities, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I called three Mainstream tips.

The reports wrapped up with a slide show of the new Harvest Festival Hoedown venue. I still haven't visited the space personally, but the photos look pretty good.

The Chesapeake Squares' general membership meeting comes up Tuesday, April 22.
