Update from otterpop58

I just called otterpop58's cell phone to see how things are down in his neighbourhood. He and roomie Brian are well, although they've lost numerous trees and are without electricity and telephone lines. The power may require a couple of weeks for restoration. As soon as possible, he'll get online to post & update but I'm sure he has more important tasks on his agenda at the moment.

This kind of situation is why we just bought
this,
which charges via crank and can charge up a cell phone as well as giving you weather radio and TV audio bands.

We have a power inverter for the car so we can power small appliances & recharge batteries. I do want a larger capacity unit, pref. pure sine wave, but they cost $$$.

I KNEW there must be another use for the 300 watt inverter I bought for square dance parade demos! :-)
