Green Card Replacement
I was at the local INS office for 8 AM this morning for my appointment to replace my green card. In all, it was a fairly efficient and quick affair: show the letter designating my appointment at that office along with photo ID, complete an additional service request form and wait for a short while before being electronically fingerprinted and having a new photo taken. I was out of there by 8:20 AM.
My replacement card should arrive in December.
Now to work on replacing my passport...

The INS these days is more correctly called the US Citizenship & Immigration Service, a part of the Dept of Homeland Security. Passports, however, are handled by the State Dept.
