Minor Pain

A few days ago, my left forearm had twinges of pain from the elbow to the wrist. I figured a muscle or two were complaining about some minor strain so didn't pay it a great deal of attention.

The pain hasn't faded. In fact, yesterday, the pain was distinctly sharper and focussed, and it is now difficult to rotate my wrist and hand in any meaningful way, making typing a challenge.

Trusting this is some sort of repeat of prior carpal tunnel issues, my left arm is wrapped up in a wrist restraint for the next couple of days. No one ask me to help them move furniture for a week, OK?

Take good care of yourself, carpal stuff is such a risk in our profession, and so debilitating if it spirals out of control.

Have you ever had good luck out of icing your forearms down in the evenings? Alan did that for an extended spell a few years ago and it eased his carpal/RSI stuff to the point where it has not recurred for several years.

Try some neck/back stretches. Could be a pinched nerve somewhere. I had pain in the whole left arm, and various visits to the chiro helped out.

I can't believe no one has made the inevitable "at least it wasn't your right arm, so it hasn't ruined your sex life" joke yet.

Consider it made.

You're welcome.

I haven't tried using ice... I'll give that a go tonight to see if it helps.

I noticed Saturday evening my left shoulder also had some acute issues but I wasn't sure if some pinched nerve in my back was causing issues for my arm, or if the pain in my arm was causing stress in my shoulder & back. I'm a total massage whore anyway so now I have a medical excuse for a backrub. If this persists, I may search for a chiropractor for a more thorough manipulation.

You should know by now I'm ambidextrous that way... :-)

God, I hope my grandmother and/or mother isn't reading this right now.
