My God... it's full of cows!

Canadian cows under the age of 30 months are once again allowed to travel to the US. Unbeknownst to the unsuspecting and generally good-natured bovines, the trip is one-way.

I'm sure your calves are very polite, but insist on mooing half the time in French.

The whole thing is silly, and economically damaging to both countries (the US has excess processing capacity while Canada has excess cows.) As usual a loud pressure group commandeers the levers of government to get a special advantage, while few outside the industry even notice. See: softwood lumber dispute.

Even as there was a vast surplus of beef in Canada causing the price paid to farmers to drop by a 1/3, the price at the grocery stores never fell. Someone was making a killing, so to speak. And leather wasn't getting any cheaper.
