How Not To Professional

A UK sales employee was fired via text message. Not cool.

This is on par with a former vacationing boss of mine laying off other vacationing staff via cell phone from his chair on the beaches of the Turks & Caicos Islands.

Any boss who does this, regardless of gender, has no balls.

It happened here...

One of our hospital support staff didn't show up for a couple days, so they fired her by text message. Included in the msg: "Please return this phone. It is hospital property."

I see a wave of legal activity in the coming years on this. Given the ability to spoof message headers, what is to stop someone from abusing this medium to terminate (albeit bogus) anyone, say even those in positions of authority who have themselves used it?
