Projects

Is it procrastination when you avoid working on a particular project by working on a bunch of different projects?

I have to rewrite a rather ugly list of links to various standards & procedural documents. It's not a difficult job, just a painfully tedious one. I'm rationalizing not working on it at the moment because it will require a lot of short term memory capacity which I simply don't have available at the moment.

There are miscellaneous other bits I could work on, but none are particularly pressing at this moment, and I'm largely on autopilot waiting for feedback or information from others.

I still want to get a C1 boot camp off the ground as soon as possible. I've looked up potential weekends across the next three months and sent them off to Dayle to see which might work for him. The next obvious problem is to look for a space, but that's gonna cost a fortune: we'd be looking for a space suitable for two squares available on a Friday night, all day Saturday and at least daytime Sunday. Ideally, I'd like to get someone's basement or building party room but we'll see how it goes.

Once I get a tentative date lined up from Dayle, getting commitments from dancers will be the next big hurdle. I'll worry about that on Friday.

[livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I will be teaching the Mainstream class for DC Lambda Squares on Monday nights, 7:30-9:30 PM from Sept. 11 to Dec. 18 at First Baptist Church. I'm guessing we'll lose the first Monday to open house stuff so the real class would be on Sept. 18. Columbus Day (Oct 9) may or may not be available to us: I've yet to get a confirmation from DCLS about that. We may also lose 1-2 Mondays because of church mis-scheduling or double-booking. 15 theoretical class sessions could actually be more like 12.

With about 50 days left before the first session, I'm working on lesson plans and scheduling, attempting to assign calls to particular sessions so I'll have something to distribute when the class begins and a personal guide for pacing of material. I'm working off the CALLERLAB recommended order with minor modifications, and my best intuition about which calls would be trivially easy and which ones will require serious work. I'll finish this and absorbing [livejournal.com profile] otterpop58's teaching tips (co-authored with Tim Marriner) this weekend at the trailer as I hide from heat, humidity and ultraviolet radiation.

We have another regularly scheduled meeting for the 2009 convention committee tomorrow night before club night. Outside of printed copies of the last meeting's minutes, I have no deliverables. I'm still nudging our pro bono legal counsel to complete reviewing our 501(c)(3) application; I'd like to get that finalized & submitted as soon as possible so we can start doing some serious fundraising.
