Today's Agenda
I just got out of bed and am now sitting in front of my iMac naked, trying to sort my thoughts on today's 'to do' list.
At work, my regular night shift Unix guy is taking the next three nights off so I'm taking his shift. I kinda like working nights: there's fewer interruptions from business folks and general users, I get to wear really casual clothes instead of business casual and because I'll have worked almost 70 hours in this week alone when it's all over, I get extra time off without hitting my vacation day allotment. Since I wrote 80% of the work tickets the night crew has to execute this particular weekend, it's somehow a bit ironic that I now have to follow my own written instructions & scheduling.
Staying up as late as I could last night and sleeping in as late as I could force myself this morning was rather nice but it's still going to be difficult staying awake until my shift ends tomorrow at 9 AM. Until I head to work tonight however, there are tasks to be accomplished...
My Windows box is already running checksums against my digital porn collection, looking for duplicates among the new entries. That'll take another two hours. I need a faster machine but I'll worry about that later. Maybe I'll just recode the app in perl to execute on my Linux box or iMac.
As soon as I hit the "update journal" button on this entry, I'm going to work out for an hour or so. I have some podcasts already queued up on the iMac to keep me from thinking about how long it as been since I last used the equipment.
Have shower. Do laundry. Good opportunity to change the bed clothes.
I have to make lunch. At the moment, I feel like re-heating the leftover chicken breasts in the freezer, perhaps adding the baby carrots in the veggie drawer of the fridge. I'll think of something.
We have $100 in wrapped coins I need to get to the bank. I could never get to our local branch during their open hours but I can today.
My car needs an oil change. I can get that done while I visit the bank.
Make a work lunch and head to Urbana for 8 PM. Woo hoo.
I'm sure I'm overlooking some tasks... I'll improvise as needed. :-)
