Maryland believes I owe them $44.40 for our 6% sales tax on that purchase.<br /><br />The snag is that I have no idea what they're talking about. The firm sells home furnishings, according to their web site. I've never heard of them before. I have no record in my credit card statements or checkbook for any purchase remotely that large 60 days before or after 5/26/08. In short, it would seem there's either an error in processing somewhere, fraudulent accounting or I've been purchasing stuff in my sleep while simultaneously erasing my own paper trail.<br /><br />I've left telephone messages with both the vendor and the tax office asking for more information.<br /><br /><img src="https://www.dreamwidth.org/tools/commentcount?user=bjarvis&ditemid=765275" width="30" height="12" alt="comment count unavailable" style="vertical-align: middle;"/> comments
