Dancing with Phantom 8s

cuyahogarvr and I went dancing with John Marshall's Phantom 8s group in Virginia yesterday evening. It's a high level Advanced club and not for the timid.

We received our official Phantom 8s badges last night too! kent4str has a badge waiting for him, but he was at a chorus rehearsal last night so he'll have to go dancing Sept 23 to collect his badge.

John had four squares on the floor and, for the most part, our square was typically successful. There were a couple of problem tips but that was largely due to one particular couple who was in our square each time. I can't quite figure if he was never a strong A2 dancer to begin with, if he's having difficulty hearing the calls or if he has severely declining overall ability. His wife is dancing well enough but she's dedicating a lot of her attention span to correcting him so she occasionally misses a call as well. Ah, well... the rest of us just smiled and muddled through as best we could.

John and Mary are working on a possible C2 course for the fall but are frustrated trying to find a space which would be consistently available and affordable. I'm sure they'll find something eventually but they may have to adjust their original schedule.
