Returning To Canada!
I've just booked my air fare for a visit to Ontario, Canada, for July 10-16. The plan is:
This time, I'll take my green card and passport.
BTW, I was braced for expensive air fare but was able to get the return ticket for only $166 USD, including taxes & fees! Yay!
- fly Baltimore to Buffalo on SouthWest
- rent a car
- drive to Toronto for a couple of days visiting friends & family
- drive to London for the Canadian mini-CALLERLAB convention for a couple of days, as well as visiting friends & family
- driving back to Buffalo
- flying back to Baltimore.
This time, I'll take my green card and passport.

Feel The --Ow-- Burn!
I'm just back from an ice skating session at our local arena. At the moment, I ache --in a good way-- from my lower back down to my toes. Time to rest, and blog all about it. :-)
It was a good workout: I skated heavily until my ankles and calves were burning, then skated three minutes more. Take a short break, then repeat. And again and again.
We were all shooed off the ice for the Zamboni, driven by a cute red-brown bearded cub. I tried to take a picture with my cell phone but couldn't get a shot through the plexiglass shielding around the rink. He even waved for me when he saw me with the telephone up. *sigh*
The newly sharpened blades are great, but clearly my left ankle needs work: I have difficulty gliding on the left for more than 30 seconds while I can do double that on my right --in fact, I run out of rink before my right ankle tires. My balance also isn't quite as good as it should be but both issues will get worked out with more rink time.

Thunder & Lightning!
Just a few minutes ago, a heavy rain began. There's nearly continuous lightning across the sky; our electricity, Internet connectivity and satellite signal are all flickering in & out. I think I'm going to pull up a chair on the front porch and watch the fun.

Electrical Storm
The storm has moved east of us. Shortly after my last posting, I powered down & unplugged all of our electronics, just in case. Having thus taken such good care of my cheap, disposable electronics, I proceeded to grab my camera and go stand outside in the middle of it all.
Clearly, I survived and I now offer the attached in triumph. I recorded this looking into the backyard, over the neighbours' house. The first 10 seconds are dark, then it starts lighting up. There are big flashes at 0:30 and 1:05 approximately. Enjoy!

Electrical Storm
