World o' Square Dancing!

In another hour, we'll be on the road to Cleveland, OH!

The Cleveland City Country Dancers has their annual fly-in this weekend; we've been regular attendees for several years since they throw such a great party. Rather than flying this time, we're driving: we'll pack as much of [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr's pr0n precious family heirlooms into the minivan to drive back to DC on Sunday.

In other news, last night's C1 fun was a weird mix. We had a larger turnout than usual, probably because it was the first anniversary of our C1 boot camp and the beginning of this dance series. Most of us though were suffering temporary dyslexia: we were turning right when we should have gone left, left when right. In all, it was tremendous fun even if we were crashing every fourth figure or so.

[livejournal.com profile] justetthon has a schedule conflict next Monday so she's offered me a chance to call for her Ettseteras in College Park. I'm taking the laptop with me this weekend to review all of my C1 figures yet again to ensure I have everything fully prepared.

While I'm calling in College Park Monday, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str will be teaching the DC Lambda Squares' Mainstream class solo in downtown DC. Whee!

In Cleveland!

We arrived in the early evening after a long drive from DC.

The trip itself was largely uneventful. We paused at the outlet malls in Hagerstown, MD, to purchase a replacement suitcase since my current one won't survive the trip to Seattle later this month. Once we were there, however, we were sucked into various stores by unusually intense gravity wells pulling on our wallets. We got a second replacement suitcase, I bought two pairs of shoes, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str bought a weed wacker (among other items) and we got some pesto for [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr. So much for having our credit cards entirely paid off.

Once we arrived in Cleveland, we unloaded our luggage at [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr's apartment, then headed over to the dance hall to help with decorating. Brian, Mark, Nick, [livejournal.com profile] apparentparadox and others were largely done but we helped with a few details here and there. Photos to follow.

Around 9:30 PM, we finally headed out for a late dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Lakewood. Now I'm catching up on LJ, e-mail and heading for bed.
