Dawn

I watched the sun rise this morning. I haven't done that in years.

It was a ruby sphere lifting from the tree-lined horizon, hiding in heavy fog. My office may be somewhat remote from civilized areas, but it has the advantage of a clear and pastoral view in all directions.

Part of me is in awe. Most of me however is rather sleepy.

Night Shift #2

I'm settling in for another night in my office cube. There's fewer work tickets for tonight but oddly enough, I didn't write any of them this time. I should have brought extra books to read.

I suspect tonight will be rougher than last even with the lighter work load. I dragged myself into bed around 9 AM but could only sleep until 3 PM or so. After an hour of tossing & turning, I finally decided to do something with the day but I'm sure having only six hours of sleep will come back to haunt me around, oh, 4 AM or so tonight.
